Lisa Howes

Acting Portfolio Lead & Principal Consultant

My international development career has spanned 20+ years, and I have worked/consulted in a number of countries and regions (particularly South Asia and South America), for a range of clients and organisations (bilaterals, research institutes, private and third sector). I have wide-ranging expertise: gender, social inclusion and socio-ecological issues; monitoring, evaluation and learning; climate, environment and sustainability. I am particularly passionate about finding workable, pragmatic and effective means to sustainably manage our environment/natural resources – whilst meeting other human/development needs.

My work takes various forms, but in particular I provide: reviews/evaluations/assessments of projects, programmes and organisations; strategic, organisational development and capacity-building support; environmental and climate assessments/evaluations; gender/social assessments/evaluations. I particularly specialise in gender-environment/socio-ecological linkages and issues; and coming alongside teams to translate recommendations and needs into workable actions and roads forward.

Before joining IOD PARC, I worked for a range of organisations, as well as built my own consultancy business over 7 years. I have previously worked with FCDO, Rothamsted Research, ERM and the INGO Practical Action.
