IOD PARC conducted the first comprehensive review of WFP’s Environmental Policy since 1998. We assessed the policy’s quality, outcomes, and implementation mechanisms concerning environmental sustainability. It involved analysing alignment with global goals and internal frameworks on climate change and disaster risk reduction, assessing integration of safeguards and GEDSI, and drawing lessons for WFP’s future strategic direction. Data collection was undertaken in a sub-sample of 11 countries with fieldwork in 6 countries (Ghana, Kenya, Kyrgyz Republic, Egypt, Namibia, Guatemala) and remote desk reviews in a further 5 countries (Afghanistan, Madagascar, Mali, Nicaragua, Yemen), as well as across Regional Bureaux and HQ stakeholders.
