Roeland Hemsteede

Roeland leads IOD PARC's Climate and Environment workstream, with a focus on monitoring, evaluation, learning and research spanning climate change, resilience building and social protection. He has more than a decade of international development experience engaging high-level stakeholders across bilateral and multilateral organisations, NGOs and politics.

Roeland draws on qualitative approaches to understand the intersection of policy, power, and poverty, and what different stakeholders can do to improve lives globally. He enjoys writing about his work and regularly publishes in peer-reviewed journals on social protection.

Roeland holds a PhD in Human Geography from the University of Dundee and a Master (by Research) in African Studies from Leiden University, alongside certifications including on using AI in evaluations and Prince2® Foundation.
