Lisa Howes
Cluster Lead and Principal Consultant
Edinburgh, UKEdinburgh, Scotland
Lisa has consulted across many countries and regions – particularly South Asia and South America – and for a range of bilateral/multilateral, research, private and third-sector clients. She has wide-ranging expertise in gender, social inclusion and socio-environmental issues; monitoring, evaluation and learning (particularly participatory approaches) ; and climate, environment and sustainability.
Much of Lisa's work sits at the social–environment seam: finding workable, pragmatic and effective ways to sustainably manage the environment and natural resources whilst meeting human development needs – and coming alongside teams to translate recommendations into workable actions and roads forward. This takes the form of reviews, evaluations and assessments of projects, programmes and organisations; strategic, organisational and capacity-building support; and environmental, climate, gender and social assessments, research and policy work.
Before joining IOD PARC, Lisa was Managing Director for Practical Action Consulting. Prior to this she built an independent consultancy over seven years, and worked for clients and held roles across FCDO, WWF, Youth Business International, Rothamsted Research and ERM.
