Karl-Axel is an experienced evaluator and policy analyst specialising in ecological public health – the relationships between food systems, health, water, nutrition and energy within the context of the environment and resilience – with academic research experience in South Asia, particularly urban food security in India. He has experience evaluating large-scale programmes within his expertise and more broadly within the multilateral development sector.
Karl-Axel's work sits at the junction of systems thinking and clear communication: bringing complex data into accessible, meaningful content. With an extensive academic grounding, including a PhD in Food Policy from City St George, University of London, a post-doctoral research on narratives of food security and resilience among international development agencies, a MSc in Food Policy and a BA in Sociology from the University of York.
Before joining IOD PARC, Karl-Axel consulted for Think Research and Advisory, writing analytical articles on food security in the Middle East and North Africa region.
