I joined IOD PARC in 2021 to lead the WASH and Climate Change Portfolio. With 25 years experience working in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and the Pacific I bring a global mindset with a multi-disciplinary background in aid, trade and foreign diplomacy. My career has seen me progress from a technical environment and climate change specialist working at the community level, to senior advisory roles within the UK and Australian governments. In the last 10 years I have been in senior operational roles managing significant aid budgets including AUD 120 million a year program in Vietnam as head of Australia’s aid program, and most recently as Australia’s first female High Commissioner in the Republic of Nigeria.
In all these roles I have been responsible for leading large teams, budget and risk management, and ensuring the strategic alignment of programs to meet organisational priorities. I am a compassionate and decisive leader experienced in leading the design and implementation of aid programs, as well as monitoring and managing underperformance, and program evaluations. My skills are in building teams, leading organisational change, developing strategic plans, achieving policy influence, managing complex and multidisciplinary projects and building high calibre networks and trusted relationships. I bring experience of working within a range of organisations from governments, think tanks, NGOs, private sector and multilateral institutions.
